This small property, with its 3 x 7 m, but considerably high [3. 7 m], suits perfectly with the needs of space for our team and allows us to have a good location in the middle of the historic city center of Vilanova i la Geltrú, apart from its natural lighting and its low-cost initial investment, which provide us a perfect place to develope our works.
Basically, the intervention has consisted of the enlargement and upgrading of the existing power grid, the installation of a new lighting system, which provides a specific personality to the space and takes advantage of its formal qualities, and the cleaning and painting of the property. Most of the existing parquet flooring has been kept, except on the entrance area, where it has been replaced by a synthetic coconut doormat. Also in the inner zone, this flooring has been removed, so it was in a bad condition caused by moisture, and replaced by flattening and painting the support. This solution has allowed to give the prominence that deserves the column made of natural stone, which is found in the deep end of the establishment.
The sheeting of walls with natural wood panels allows to hide all the electrical systems and telecommunications, which are needed for the proper functioning of the different job sites. Besides, the office is configured by two different areas: the first one, more representative and near the entrance, and the second one, in the inner zone and designed as a work zone. The division between both spaces is made through a bottomless shelf [IKEA EXPEDIT] and emphasised by the natural wood panelling and its indirect lighting system.
Most of the lights that have been installed inside the office are reused, with a lifespan of more than 30 years. It’s worth also highlighting the circular lamp designed by M. Mila.
