The strategy of the project is based on understanding that the educational needs of La Pobla de Lillet do not require a new building, but the expansion of the existing one: the “Lillet a Güell” Primary School. This is the reason why the proposal adopts the composition of the existing layout of the school: a hallway-corridor oriented to the south-east serving a row of classrooms. The solution is located in the Small Courtyard that the school builders saved for a possible future expansion, which allows to set a clear interconnection between the new rooms and the previous building and, at the same time, it provides an independent access to the new nursery school from Father Ramon’s passageway. Apart from this, it also allows to keep the Small Courtyard, but this time as the roof of the new building, which access is made through the first floor of the school.
The competition is a co-authorship of Jordi Martínez and Ivan Montoro (students) with Javier Peña and Ramon Tomàs.
The result was: Winner, 1st prize. Not executed.
